It's their nature. The others aren't as compelling and the movie slowly loses tension. That's also the nature of some of these movies as less compelling individual stories start piling up.
The SWAT team members aren't individual enough. It would help to have actors with charisma. That's also the nature of these smaller indie franchises. They don't have the best actors. As the squad investigates the building, viewers are treated to several of the found-footage stories being played on the cult's many TV screens.
