I have more info plus a workaround so here is the latest info on this issue: I setup NMM as a clean install with no configuration. Note that this creates a custom Categories. I believe it means that NMM will not be able to recognise if there is an update on nexus or if you are using a file with a potential version issue.

I do not use NMM so I can not tell you how to fix that. Click on the mod, on the left side of NMM's screen you will see an icon of a page with a pencil on the page, click on that, it is the icon for missing mod info.
