I have really gotten into it since then, in large part because of this amazing course. Joel Sartore is a fun, knowledgeable expert photography full of great advice. He explains well, conveys his passion for photography, and makes me laugh at least a few times in each lecture. I recommend this course so much and I'm doing it again now to see if, with four years of photography under my belt, I can pick up on other things that I was too new to appreciate four years ago.
I think he really speaks to all levels. This course excelled on many levels. It was thorough, well explained with excellent examples and students are given opportunities to practice what was taught with meaningful assignments. Every aspect of photography was covered. I purchased this to educate myself on how to take better nature photographs. The course has answered almost every question I had and steered me into some really good techniques.
I'd definitely rate this as a good buy for beginner or intermediate photographers. I gravitate towards instructors who don't take themselves too seriously and share their knowledge in a fun yet informative delivery.
Joel is the kind of photography mentor I would love to find locally to buddy up with exploring the Pacific Northwest. Not only does he seem knowledgeable and entertaining but also tough as nails for editorial critique of his work, which is something I need to work on as I strive to become a better photographer.
